from the heart.

Gratitude.  One of the many virtues that I cherish, treasure and consciously aim to put into practice each and every day.  So when it was learned that our Heidi Swapp Media Team assignment was to use gratitude as our inspiration, I was completely thrilled.  Combine that direction with amazing Heidi Swapp products and the Silhouette Cameo and voila! Total creative bliss!

For this assignment I was honestly somewhat out of my "creative comfort zone".  It is funny how we usually gravitate towards things that we are most often comfortable with, however the creative push and energy we can actually gain from going "outside of our box" can be such a positive and powerful experience.   I feel that these projects really helped to inspire, energize and force me to look beyond what I initially am drawn to which will definitely help me so much going forward.  For that alone...I am grateful.

I created three projects, all using the Silhouette Cameo to construct the base of my project using the Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic paper collection.  I purposely aimed to keep these projects simple in that I really wanted to showcase just what awesome things can be created out of Silhouette die-cut papers. I constructed a 3-d pyramid gift box, 3-d pennant flap box and gate fold card.  All of these project die-cuts were purchased from the Silhouette Cameo store which is accessed through the Silhouette Cameo studio software. This online shop of dies is seriously AMAZING and anything and everything you could ever possibly dream of cutting is there. It is my new shopping addiction...ssshhh.....don't tell! ;)

Once the project bases were cut using my Silhouette Cameo I further embellished the projects with tags, flowers and a heart that were ALL cut out using the Silhouette.

Of course, NO Heidi Swapp inspired project would be complete without some of her stunningly gorgeous signature handwriting.  We were lucky enough to be the first recipients of a gorgeous digital gratitude word and quote kit (that will be available soon for purchase in the Heidi Swapp Digital Shop).  I cut out my words using the Silhouette adhesive paper.  I adore this paper because once your image is cut out, it is just like removing a sticker.  So easy to apply, absolutely no mess and truly the most perfect embellishment for any project!  The precision and detail that the Silhouette Cameo is capable of is truly amazing.

My third project is the gate fold card.  I cut out the card with my Silhouette Cameo, along with the word 'blessing' and also cut out a simple heart.  I applied these to the front of my card and added some Heidi Swapp Vintage Chic tags for an additional little detail.  Again, I wanted to keep these projects simple to really showcase and demonstrate the Silhouette Cameo.

Inside my card, I added a little hand-sewn mini book which hold gratitude messages from the soon to be released Heidi Swapp Digital Gratitude kit.  Along with the messages is also a page at the back to hold a personal message for that special someone.

Using the Silhouette Cameo really opened my eyes and mind to the creative possibilities and options that this brilliant die-cut machine has.  It truly is amazing and when combined with designer papers and digital designs, especially from the likes of Heidi Swapp, the results are magic!

I am always looking for ideas and little ways to show my gratitude and thanks to all of the amazing and incredible people that touch my life all the time.  I am so grateful for them and am definitely inspired to start creating some thank you and just because gifts to truly show my gratitude and appreciation.  I hope that seeing these projects and just a fraction (and I do mean small fraction) of what the Silhouette Cameo can do you are inspired to make some pretty stuff too!

Thank YOU so much for stopping by. I am so grateful for all of you. :)

my life: instagram style.

I absolutely adore Social Media.  Especially when it comes to photographs and all the different ways that now exist to help put your life story into beautiful and memorable photos.

Using Instagram to celebrate my life is one of my absolute favourite ways to document.  It is so easy, convenient and just pure fun. The creativity you can have with Instagram images has completely energized me in such a fantastic way. I love it!
For our second Heidi Swapp Media Team assignment, we were to use Instagram photos as our source of inspiration.  My first instinct was to create an interactive mini album that celebrated both the images that I loved and some special quotes and reminders that I often need.  Together they created this little desktop mini album with a little extra help from a $0.99 Ikea photo frame. :)

With a simple repetitive design, I celebrated my Instagram images with some gorgeous Heidi Swapp embellishments and Instaframes, word strips that I simply typed out in Photoshop and printed on my home computer and some die cuts from my Silhouette.  My personal favourite is the Instagram logo I had my Silhouette cut out using the Heidi Swapp No Limits paper.  Is it just not the cutest? I thought it made the perfect cover page.

Right now as I type this, my Instagram project sits beside me on my desk and I often catch myself flipping through it every now and then reflecting on the moments, memories and inspiration that captivated me.  I am so thankful for all of these random moments and how fabulous they look together. I feel so blessed for them.  Ordinary they are, but with a little dash of creativity and Heidi Swapp I find them extraordinary!

I hope that this album has left you feeling inspired to take more photos, join Instagram, or even to just get your Instagram photos printed from your phone.  Maggie from the Heidi Swapp Design Team has a great post on her blog about transferring Instagram photos from ones IPhone to your computer.  It is super easy and has definitely helped me in transferring my files.  I highly recommend it!

What a fabulous week of Instagram inspiration by all the gorgeous and talented ladies from the Heidi Swapp Media Team.  If you have not already checked them out, please do! Such creative concepts, ideas and techniques are shared by each of the members.  They will be sure to leave you feeling energized and ready to make pretty stuff!

Thank you so much for stopping by and if you are not already, I would love it if you would follow me on Instagram!  My user name is lbateman9442. Please come join me and my inspiration journey!

late night with sugar.

I love late nights, comforting silence and some Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic!  I also love weekends, and especially long weekends that give me that little extra time to indulge and play and allow myself to just create freely.

This past weekend I became inspired to play with some of the beautiful Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic collection, sewing machine and my Silhouette.  A fabulous trio.  It was the perfect combination in creating this layout celebrating the beginning of September, my love, and the month that we were married 4 years ago.

I knew I had some favourite Instagram photos that I wanted to document of us so I printed them out on my home printer and just decided to have fun with the rest!  I also wanted to experiment with my circle cutter so I decided to add a few circle details to the layout, personalized with some stitching. So fun.

I decided to finish off the layout with some of the BEAUTIFUL Heidi Swapp Sentiment Strip stickers ( I SERIOUSLY cannot get enough of these), stamping and some of Heidi Swapp's epoxy stickers.  I rarely am drawn to creating layouts ( as I am a die-hard mini album girl), but it is always fun to go back to where it all began and see a memory come together this way.  The Sugar Chic collection definitely helps to achieve a gorgeous layout with very universal and versatile embellishments.  So fun to use and they look absolutely adorable!

As I finished creating this layout, I am finding it is so hard to believe that September has finally arrived.  Even though it is my favourite time of the year, I still can feel a bit sentimental and almost nostalgic as to how fast it seems that we are now that much closer to winter and the end of 2012.  At the same time, this also means there is no perfect time than now to begin to reflect, look back and document on the amazing memories and moments this year has brought me so far.

I am so thankful for photographs and incredible designers such as Heidi Swapp who work so hard to create products to help me document my memories in helping me to make pretty stuff. So grateful and loving every minute!

p.s. I LOVE Sugar Chic!  Have you tried it out yet? Seriously the BEST sugar rush....without the actual sugar! Do not think it could get any better than that! ;)
