newport beach. remember always.

so i finally got around to getting a little bit more work done and accomplished on the memory file album i made to celebrate the memories i was able to experience and share back in january at newport beach.  i had SO much fun with this album creating it from a variety of old and NEW pieces from the Heidi Swapp collection that will be released to scrapbooking stores in March...yahoo! i just LOVE that no matter what type of project, the pieces from her collections are completely versatile, customizable and work with any and every type of theme!

i created the base of the album by using one of the blank chipboard memory files.  i then placed a 12 x 12 piece of color magic paper on top of it, trimming the access.  i then created the colour by mixing tropicana teal, mustard, and mint green.  i just sprayed the colors allowing them to blend.  what a beautiful background it created. i then added pieces of paper from the vintage chic collection to create the binding of the album.  if you look really close...you can even see some NEW pieces that will be released in march...elements from Heidi Swapp's CLEAR POP collection.  note: they are amazing and you WILL want to begin hoarding these ASAP. they are so cool...and SO fun to add into memory file projects!

i had fun adding instaframes with a couple of my favorite instagrams, a disco star, some color magic chipboard alphas, color magic letterbox alphas, heidi swapp trimming and my little sand dollar charm that i purchased at a local gift shop.  i created the inside of my album by sewing together (down the spine) a vintage chic memory file, a regular plain manilla folder AND a brand new COLOR POP memory file.

the color pop memory file is actually mint green and white...but when i added the black velvet color shine...BOOM! check out that transformation....so cool right?!?

to create the backgrounds to these pages, i simply just sprayed some mint green and mustard color shine.  i love that even by itself, it creates the coolest backgrounds.  i adore the artistic flair to these pages.  note you can even see some more of the adorable CLEAR POP banner delights that i layered here. just LOVE those little babies!

one of my other FAVOURITE pieces to the CLEAR POP collection are the tabs.  I used the "loved" one here. they are the perfect embellishment to memory files and add such a fun interactive element.  i cannot wait to start using these on layouts, cards, and mini albums as well. SO many fun possibilities and they will work as amazing layering details.

i am still in the process of putting the finishing touches on this album, especially the journaling.  however i was SO excited to share i just could not contain myself. i hope you enjoyed this little sneak of some of the ways i used pieces of Heidi Swapp's NEW collections: Color Pop and Clear Pop.  they will be in scrapbooking stores come March...which is not that far away...and a perfect way to begin welcoming in Spring!

thanks for stopping by!
XOXO

here for the party....just a little late ;)

ok....so seriously HOW MUCH FUN is everyone having finding ALL of these AMAZING NEW goodies at Michaels?  i could NOT imagine!  feels like a treasure hunt i am sure!

when i first learned the news of this BIG surprise you all have to know how massively excited i was for ALL of YOU! i just could not wait until you were able to all see, touch, feel and play with such incredibly fun and innovative product.  i am still waiting for my chance to head to the big city of Edmonton, Alberta here in Canada to check out my local Michaels there to see it LIVE for myself. i may just cry...(and if there is even any product left on the shelf)!  last i heard it was flying off the store shelves like hot cakes, so we will see!!!

so unfortunately i am a little late to the party....but better late than never right?!?  sometimes that crazy thing called LIFE get's in the way and throws us little curve balls but that is when we swing back harder, stronger and better than ever...right?!?  it's time to get BACK on course and back to the things that REALLY matter....like my top favourite Heidi Swapp products NOW AVAILABLE at Michaels!! Whoop Whoop! ;)

if you were live on the webshow last night, you would have seen Heidi reveal a bit about this album (among MANY other amazing products, projects....and secrets!!).  this is definitely one of my TOP favourite picks...and for SO many reasons. i love the resist, the chipboard, the butterflies, the fact that it is an 8 x 8 mini...it is just SO pretty.  i want like 1000 of these...truly a hoarding situation up in here!

i used mustard and primrose colorshine on this album as the main colours and accented with mint green on the color magic butterflies (another LOVE of mine...).  another one of my favourite product releases to Michaels are also the Vintage Chic Notes.  being a huge lover of journaling, these are truly the PERFECT addition to any mini album or project where a person would love to leave some notes, journaling and extra special details.  they come in a variety of beautiful colours and shapes.  i love love love these! they are an absolute MUST have. trust me....you will find yourself going to these over and over again.

just LOOK at all of those fabulous designs, patterns and shapes! swoon........

you can see here in a few sneek peaks of the inside pages i used the notes throughout my album, ready for journaling and reflections.  such a simple detail, yet adds SO much. they coordinate with everything!

i also used the note cards again in this Sugar Chic Memory File Mini Album. Such a simple touch, but yet a great layering piece to any layout.  With our without journaling....they are fabulous!!

Both of these projects (along with MANY others to come) are all a part of the 101 days of Michael's Inspiration showcasing all of the endless possibilities and ideas that can be done to create beautiful, timeless and unique projects and gifts to celebrate crafting, your loved ones, scrapbooking and your memories. Remember....these products showcased in these projects (plus MUCH MORE) are ALL AVAILABLE AT MICHAELS!!  Seriously, how amazing right?  By the end of the run you will have 101 FREE printables with material lists and instructions showing you how to replicate and create your very own projects.  I already have my binder started with the fabulous 4 projects that have been released.  My mind is spinning! They are all so beautiful and unique and ideas that are fresh and new to me!  I love how we all learn and inspire one another. It is such a gift!

as i sit here typing this blog post i am still in literal shock and awe to be a part of something SO wonderful.  it is a dream of mine to be sharing my ideas and projects with you....AND to be celebrating the work, heart and passion of Heidi Swapp ON TOP of that??? WOW! i am SO happy, proud and blessed to call her my friend and to watch her dreams and achievements unfold is just amazing.  she works SO hard and i am just over the top thrilled to know how everyone (myself included) is SO excited to be a part of celebrating these amazing products and ideas with the Michael's release.  we all need happy in our lives these days.  nothing beats the journey of creating and i know a lot of you out there can agree.  there is just something magical about it.  Heidi totally got it right when she encouraged us all that first time to "make pretty stuff". it really is awesome.

pink, red & more pink.

happy february!  the month of all things pink, red, white and chocolate!  cannot believe that it is already this time of year, january literally seems like such a blur to me.  a definite positive is that we are just that much closer to spring. yay!

in the spirit of all things valentines...i was inspired to create a layout based on the theme of "love". i mean, what better excuse is there than to overindulge in pink and red? together? i cannot think of any!

i began this layout using a piece of plain white bazzill cardstock.  i really love using white as a background and i thought it would be perfect since i wanted to really have fun playing with my heidi swapp primrose and sweet cherry color shine.  these colors alone are beyond fabulous...but together...WOW!

to create  my background i had fun playing and using my silhouette cameo.  i created a design with hearts that i had purchased within the software.  once i created my design to have cut out, i then peeled away the hearts to leave me with a stencil heart background.  i really love this effect and have been using it to even create titles on my pages. SO fun and really easy to do!

my next step to fill in the open hearts was to use a piece of the hexagon design heidi swapp colour magic paper.  i LOVE this stuff!  i sprayed the paper with primrose and sweet cherry.  once i wiped away the excess color shine i simply mounted my white cardstock on top of the color magic paper.  voila! how fun right? just think of the possibilities! i know my head was spinning!

i then used my silhouette to cut out the "love" word available on the heidi swapp digital shop site from the mothers day kit.  i created 4 varying sizes and used a plain manilla file folder to cut them out of.  once they were cut i used heidi swapp color shine in the following four colours: primrose, sweet cherry, black velvet and georgia peach to customize them.  the large love i created an ombre effect by simply spraying sweet cherry, primrose and georgia peach (in that order) from left to right, one on top of the other to create the effect.  i also free hand sprayed some sweet cherry colorshine to the white space behind where i placed my photos to add a really fun pop of color.  i printed out three black and white instagrams on my home printer, adhered them to the layout and then added some red stitching across.  i added some simple embellishments: pink paislee artisan chipboard hearts (the large sprayed with black velvet, the small with primrose), a sugar chic banner delight, some sequin bits, sentiment sticker, paper banners and some handwritten journaling.

i really had a lot of fun creating this layout and just enjoying the "art" of it.

i hope you are all inspired to indulge into this month of "love" to embrace a new project, scrapbook page or mini book to celebrate that which you love...and of course to OD on some pink action. it is SO fun!
